Welcome to the Neighborhood Bible Time website. We are humbled and thankful to our God for how He has continued to bless this ministry for over 70 years now! Dr. Charles B. Homsher and his wife Peggy labored faithfully to God’s unmistakable call to reach the most responsive mission field of today - children and teens.
We are excited for you to browse NBT’s website. We believe it will be encouraging to you as you navigate through the past, present, and future vision of NBT. You will also be able to read prayer updates, register for a rally, and keep up with our ministry.
The NBT website is safe for children and teens to browse. Carefully chosen links and daily devotionals are available through Kids Corner for children and Xtreme Impact for teens. These items will challenge your child to be in the Word of God, memorize verses, and share their faith with others. We are excited to continue to influence the children and teens long after we leave a rally.
If you are a former evangelist or are considering becoming an NBT evangelist we have areas designed to challenge and inform you of your possible ministry with NBT.
Enjoy the NBT website and plan to have a rally in your town in 2025!
Neighborhood Bible Time began in the heart of Dr. and Mrs. Charles B. Homsher in 1952. The Lord had given the Homsher’s a burden to reach the neighborhood children in the slums of Denver, Colorado. As a result, Dr. and Mrs. Homsher began conducting programs for children on a school bus in various parts of Denver. The Lord blessed and the outreach and effectiveness of the ministry grew over the years.
Brother Homsher not only had a burden to reach boys, girls, and teenagers with the gospel, but also desired to fulfill the command in II Timothy 2:2 and train the next generation of young men preparing for ministry. Brother Homsher began to train young men to hold youth rallies nationwide over the summer.
Today, Neighborhood Bible Time continues to reach thousands of boys, girls, teens with the gospel each year and to train many young men for ministry. The emphasis on enthusiasm, evangelism, Scripture memory, and Bible study has not wavered for the past 7 decades.
Each year, Bible Time recruits young men from fundamental Bible colleges throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The applicants are carefully screened through an application and reference process. Out of the applicants, 20-35 young men are chosen to be part of the NBT Evangelistic Team.
In mid-May, the Evangelists gather at our training center for three weeks of intense training to prepare them spiritually, physically, and emotionally for a summer of ministry.
Neighborhood Bible Time Evangelists will preach 60-80 times, soul-win daily, and work with 7-9 pastors throughout the summer. Traveling as an NBT Evangelist gives young men hands-on ministry experience.
To learn more about traveling as an NBT Evangelist, please visit the Evangelist page, where you can view our Evangelist Brochure and fill out an application.
Neighborhood Bible Time rallies are packed full of enthusiasm, evangelism, Scripture memory, and Bible study. Bible Time rallies not only excite children and teens about learning the truths of God's Word, but also flood the homes of the children and teens with the Gospel through take-home gifts and workbooks that are sent home daily.
Two trained evangelists travel to each church to partner with the congregation for an evangelistic rally for souls. The evangelists lead the rally time, but the church family is also able to get involved and excited about reaching their local Jerusalem with the Gospel of Christ. Neighborhood Bible Time is a spirit-filled youth outreach that will create community awareness, goodwill, and a sincere response to the Gospel.
Our staff is our greatest asset! Each NBT staff member is dedicated to pursuing the mission statement and vision of NBT. Each day our staff stays busy by fulfilling our short and long-term goals. One of our recurring themes is John 15: 4-5, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing."
Outside of NBT, our staff is active in the local church and serving the Lord daily. Take time to meet each one of our staff personally through the “Our Staff" page where you can find a picture and short bio of each staff member. We hope that this tool will help you put a face with our names and give you burden for our staff. We would greatly appreciate your prayers.
